Everything is updated for app 6.0.
Frequently asked
What does OpenWind measure, and what does the app calculate?
OpenWind measures apparent wind angle and speed, compass heading, heel and pitch. With your phone's GPS the app calculates course and speed over ground, VMG, true wind angle, speed and direction, and apparent wind direction.
Do I still need the NMEAkit app?
No. Since version 6.0 the OpenWind app sets up NMEAkit, NMEAString and DisplayKit, including calibration and firmware updates.
Can I connect it to NMEA 2000 or 0183?
Yes. NMEAkit writes the data to NMEA 2000. The app can also send NMEA 0183 over UDP to OpenCPN, iSailor and similar apps.
Does it work on a rotating mast?
Yes, with NMEAString. It measures the mast angle and the app corrects the wind angle. You calibrate it once in the app in three steps.
Can several people see the wind at the same time?
Yes. In broadcast mode phones, tablets, watches, DisplayKits and NMEAkit read OpenWind at the same time.
My device does not connect. What can I do?
Check that Bluetooth is on and that the app may use it. Open the Devices tab, stay within about 50 m and restart the app if needed. OpenWind, NMEAkit and DisplayKit can be connected at the same time.
