The NMEAString™ calculates the mast rotation angle
The string is attached to the mast, when the mast rotates, the string will be pulled in or released allowing it to calculate the rotation angle.
The NMEAString™ can be calibrated with the NMEAkit Application (Available on iOS and Android). Up to 3 Angles can be set, for example -90°, 0° and 90°.
The NMEAString™ works together with OpenWind™ device or standalone. If connected to the OpenWind™ device, the NMEAString™ will send the measured angle directly to OpenWind™. OpenWind™ then compensates the wind direction and sends the compensated data back to NMEAString™, broadcasting to all other devices. If standalone, the NMEAString™ reads the apparent wind direction on the NMEA2000 bus, compensates it and sends the compensated apparent wind angle as a new NMEA2000 wind device.
